Why a +33 number helps in France
A French number makes everyday stuff easier. A restaurant can call to confirm your table. Your host can text you the door code. A pharmacy can message you about a prescription. A driver can call if they can't find you.
Those are things it makes possible, not guarantees. No app is guaranteed to accept the number. More on SMS codes and banking: what travelers usually see, and what can still fail.

FAQ
Can I get a French number as a tourist?
Yes. A prepaid eSIM needs no French address. To keep the line active longer than a month, Orange asks you to verify your identity online with your passport. Questions? Contact us before you buy.
Will French apps accept a +33 number?
Most will send SMS codes to a +33 number, but we can't promise every service will accept it.
Airport SIM or eSIM?
Both work. The difference is that you can install an eSIM at home before you fly.
How long is the number valid?
31 days on our 20GB, 100GB and 200GB plans.
Does it work outside France?
Yes, in 42 European countries.
How do I check how much data I have left?
Dial #123# from the eSIM. Orange also texts you when you're under 2GB, and again when your data runs out.
What happens when my data runs out?
Data stops until you top up. You can do that on travel.orange.com, in an Orange shop, or at a tobacconist (tabac) in France.
How do I call local numbers?
Use the country code instead of the leading 0. For French numbers, dial +33. In an emergency, dial 112, which is free.
Will I get texts when I cross a border?
Yes. When you arrive in a new country, Orange sends a welcome text with the emergency number and how to check your usage.
Do I need to register the number?
For trips up to a month, no. To keep the line active longer than a month, Orange asks you to verify your identity online with your passport.
